Apple & Basil Bites
In a food processor add 1/3 cup of whole barley and 1/3 cup chopped timothy hay. Blitz untill a flour like consistency has been produced, the finer the flour mixture the smoother the final treats. I personally like to leave it slightly chunky. This take around 10 mins.
Next finely chop 1/2 an apple, add this to the blender alongside a desert spoon of finely chopped basil (fresh or dried). Blend untill the ingridients are combined. You will now need to add small amounts of luke-warm water and blend between each one until a dough like consistency is achieved. The amount of water needed varies depending on the water content of your ingriendients. For this recipie I used just under 1/3 of a cup however if fresh herbs are used the amount will be less.
Now you can roll your dough into small balls approx 1cm in diametre - or if you are lazy like me you can smiply 'pinch' the dough into smal mound shapes of the same size (this is quicker and less messy than rolling - the finished treats do not look quite as 'polished' as round balls but the bunnies love them just as much). Bake in the oven at around 120oC for 30mins - or untill the treats are dry and crisp.
